How to have the perfect Salon visit.

Do your research.
If you're wanting something specific look around for a specialist in your area. Then go out and meet them. A huge part of a good relationship with them is to have clear communication. Have a consultation to discuss everything on your mind before you commit. Discuss budgets so that they know how to customize your service and so you can get everything that you'll need. It also doesn't hurt to set for a later appointment so that you may have time to save.
Be on time.
If you weren't a walk in, chances are you'll need some extra time just to find your new salon. A talented stylist typically has a pre set schedule to accommodate all their beautiful guest and today you find yourself on that list. If you have not met with them before, then a huge part of your visit will be the crucial consultation that happens before hand.
Bring multiple photos.
Wether you're in for just a cut, or fresh color bring photos that show EXACTLY what you want....or don't want. Once I wanted red hair...but what did red mean to me? Fire engine red, red orange, or did I mean Burgundy ? And it's more than okay to bring different pictures for different aspects of your hair that you want to focus on. For example, one picture that only focuses on the cut, another that focuses on the overall look, and another that shows the tone that you'd like.
Lower your expectations.
Ouch, who wants to do that? But every case is different, from the before to the after. Simple ask yourself "do I want my hair to melt off ?" Because we surely do not. So if you have black hair, usually you will not walk out a beachy blonde. By being flexible you are immediately releasing all tension between you and your stylist. Come to terms with having a journey with your hair, where you both will go through different stages and you will enjoy every minute of it. If you have concerns PLEASE voice them to your stylist, but with the same respect try to really listen and consider what they lay out for you.
Know yourself before you explain yourself.
Let's be real with yourself, will you get up every day to style your new pixie cut? Or will you be just as lazy as before and tie it up in a bu....oh wait there's no hair left ! Often times guest want what seems like the impossible, wether it's their color option or their cut preference. Sit down and really think, "What am I willing to do every day?" and "How often do I want to be here." Those are two heavy hitters questions that I find to be crucial when considering this "new identity." The last thing that we want to do is give you something that in the end you end up hating. Be open and honest, not only with your stylist but with youself.
Clear your schedule.
Be open with the idea of being pampered at the salon, for a while. Of course, all depending on what you are looking to get, we do not expect to be done in a blink of an eye so do no expect it either. We want to do things thoroughly and beautifully. Lack of consistency creates a lack of interest.
