How to; Gasparilla Pirate Parade.

It is Gasparilla season and it's time for the people in the Bay to dust off their pirate hats, strap on their boots and paint on their war face because the pirates are coming to invade !
Gasparilla Pirate fest is based off the Legendary pirate Jose Gaspar, that terrorized the west coast of Florida back in the olden days. The Parade ranks 3rd in the country behind Mardi Gras, drawing in a million people annually and the kids parade ranks No.1 in the country !
Gasparilla takes place typically the last Saturday of the month on Bayshore BLVD with events leading up to the parade and many events that follow after. There is a flavor for everyone near and far; from an art event, to a music event. From a distance run to even a night version of the parade, there's SOMETHING for everyone to celebrate during Gasparilla season.
Being the beginning of the year, a month into the winter season; sometimes that can have an effect of the forecast and it varies from year to year. One year it can be cold and raining, other years it can be as hot a pirates cannon, but one thing stands true, you must dress like a Captain to party like a pirate. I have curated a collection of different ways a female pirate could attend the parade without looking like a washed up siren tied up in a casting net.
Clothing
This is what is all comes down too. Even if you don't don on the pirates gear, you still find yourself in red white and black like a sacred Bay area gang. I love the variety of clothing you can wear but years of seeing booty shorts, bra made of beads and fishnet stalking, it had me inspired to create other looks that are both suiting yet practical for year round wear. Halloween, I am ready for you :P
Jewelry
This is a fun way to flaunt your booty....and I don't mean the peach emoji kind. Gold is a pirates favorite, so if you want the beads, brings all the fools gold that you have ! Gold hoops, Gold chains, even skulls and cross bones in ...you guest it GOLD.
Accessories
I like to layer up so that there is no confusing my enthusiasm for this big day. So even if I am bundled up under a raincoat or flaunting my best pirate attire, I want my accessories to tailor into my look.
